Marriage in Bali for Australian is legally recorgnized at Home country Australia. There are some paperworks need to be prepared by the wedding couple.

How long do you need to stay in Bali before wedding day.

There are some paperworks you need to finalize before your actual wedding day such as visiting Australian consulate to obtain a Letter of Non-impediment of Marriage. You also need to make advance appointment with Australian Consulate. If your wedding is organized by Wedding planner or wedding organizer, they can help you make appointment on your behalf. The visiting time for Australian consulate is from Monday to Friday. Australian consulate is closed during Indonesian and Australian Public Holiday. If you arrive 3 days prior to wedding, it should be enough as long as you have time to visit consulate and all your paperworks has been handled by your wedding planner or organizer. There is a fee involved to issue the Letter of Non-impediment of Marriage, it is around AU$ 115 but the fee is only payable in local currency either by cash or credit card, and based on the exchange rate issued by the consulate office. What do you need to do if either Wife or Husband is Indonesian.

The marriage in Indonesia is reffer to Indonesian Marriage law number 1 of year 1974. The marriage will be registered by Registry Office if the couple already possesed a religious ceremony. The registration will take place where either Indonesian bride or groom is registered as population. For instance if his or her ID card is Denpasar, then their marriage will be registered in Denpasar, and if his or her ID card is from Jakarta, then their marriage will be registered in Jakarta.

What document required for bride and groom from Australia

  • Copy passport
  • Copy birth certificate, it must be translated into Bahasa Indonesia by a sworn translator
  • Letter of Non-impediment of Marriage issued by embassy or consulate office of Australia based in Indonesia or Bali
  • An absolute divorce decree is required if either one been married previously and it must be translated into Bahasa Indonesia by a sworn translator
  • Shoulder adjoining photo between bride and groom, size  4 x 6 cm, need  8 pcs, red background
  • Two witnesses including their copy of ID card or Passport
  • Form A from hotel`s registration ( provided by hotel )
  • Police report that the couple stay in a hotel in Bali 
  • Fill in wedding application form
