Milini (Jaimala / Varmala), the exchange of garlands between the bride and groom

Kanyadhaan, the handing over of the bride to the groom by the bride's mother

Homa/Pooja,  the prayer to the holy fire. 

Samskara/Gatha Bandhan, the tying of the knot between the bride and groom. As a sign that the marriage has begun from this day. The two hold hands, and then the bride and groom walk the first three rounds around the sacred fire. The three rounds are led by the groom; each round has to stop for Raja Homa/Obla on the sacred fire. The last round is led by the bride.

Mangal Pheras/Saptapadi, the couple circles the sacred fire (Agni) seven times. Each round symbolises certain promises, such as fidelity, health, happiness, and spirituality. 

During the Sindoor & Mangalsutra, the groom applies sindoor (red powder) to the middle of the bride's hair and drapes a mangalsutra (sacred necklace) around it. This marks the woman's status as a wife.

Oblation, praying to the sacred fire with 10 pieces of caru and sweet brown sugar.

Ashirwad, the mother, gives blessings to the bride and groom.
